Creative Clarity & Creative Direction

I offer space for meaningful ideas to unfold through:

1. Creative Clarity
One-to-one sessions for thinking, exploring, distilling and finding direction.

2. Creative Direction & Design
Developing ideas and giving them tangible form through design.

I find it can be really helpful to have space to think something through with another person. This could be something you're exploring, developing or trying to put into words. Maybe an idea, a new project, a business or a change in direction.

I love working with people who are bringing their ideas and gifts into the world and want to make a positive contribution through what they do. This might be a creative entrepreneur, artist, practitioner, founder, cultural organisation or community project. The work might sit somewhere around culture, food, wellbeing, nature, climate, community or social change.I'm interested in work that has meaning and intention behind it, and in working with people who want to approach their work with curiosity, integrity and care.

Through thoughtful questioning and active listening, I follow the threads that emerge. I work instinctively and intuitively too - noticing connections, patterns and possibilities that might not be initially obvious. Together we can explore an idea, tease things out and distil it, looking at things from different perspectives and seeing where they might lead.

Creative Clarity can be a single session, or a series of sessions over several weeks, giving an idea time and space to unfold. From there, the work may develop into a larger creative project - where we would explore how the idea could take shape through Creative Direction and Design.

Creative Clarity

A space for thinking, exploring and distilling.

Creative Clarity brings together creative thinking, consulting and mentoring for ideas that are still forming, projects that need some untangling or when you're looking for a different perspective. I listen carefully and ask thoughtful questions, following the threads that emerge. I work instinctively and intuitively too - noticing connections, patterns and possibilities that might not be immediately obvious.

Together we can explore an idea from different angles, tease out what matters, and distil the thinking. We might look at the purpose and intention behind the work, what you want to contribute, what feels important to hold onto, and what might need to change. Alongside the creative thinking, we can also look at what could help move an idea forward and into tangible reality.

Creative Clarity can be a single session, or a series of conversations over several weeks, giving an idea time and space to unfold. For a series of sessions, Soil Sessions offers more time and space to stay with an idea and follow the threads to see what is trying to emerge.

Notes and recordings are shared after each session.

1:1 Sessions are 90 minutes over Zoom

Creative Direction & Design

From clarity into form.

Sometimes the thinking is the work. Sometimes an idea wants to be developed further and given a form of its own. This is where I bring my experience as a designer and creative practitioner into the process, working with you to explore the creative direction and how the idea might want to take shape. This could be a visual identity, a website, a book or publication, or another piece of visual communication. The form depends on the idea and what you want it to do in the world. I don't work from a set package or formula. We start with the thinking, the purpose and intention behind the work, and develop a creative direction from there where the design follows meaning, form follows function.

I work with people whose ideas have a cultural, social, environmental or wellbeing dimension - people who are trying to contribute something meaningful through what they do.

My design work includes:

Visual identities
Developing the visual language and character of a business, practice or project.

Websites
Creating thoughtful digital spaces that communicate the work clearly and express its personality.

Books & publications
Bringing ideas, research, stories and projects together into something tangible and shareable.

Art direction & visual communication
Finding the imagery, language and visual approach that can bring an idea to life.

I bring the same curiosity, thoughtfulness and cross-pollinating approach to the design work as I do to the conversations that come before it.

Testimonials

  • Steph has a real gift for bringing out the true essence of your business through thoughtful brand strategy and design. She gently peels back the layers of your work so you can reconnect to the core purpose of what you offer. From there, she translates that essence into colour, imagery, and design in a way that feels aligned and authentic. Working with Steph, elevates your brand visually as well as deepens your clarity and strengthens the connection with your audience. I highly recommend her to anyone looking to bring their business to the next level and while staying true to who they are.

  • Steph truly listens to understand. It feels very enlivening to connect with someone on that level who wants to help you discover the answers to your questions about direction, mission, strategy, branding and all the other myriad of things that starting and growing your own creative business brings. I highly recommend her to anyone looking to tease out their ideas and creative process.

  • Steph Sheahan’s design work on our incredible book - What If We Were Brilliant? made a long-held dream of the Brilliant Ballybunion project tangible. Through her thoughtful, beautiful design, she captured the heart of our journey over the past two years, turning our shared vision into something we can hold, share, and be proud of.

Gráinne Toomey, Manager of Brilliant Ballybunion

  • The simplicity and beauty of this book is absolutely profound. We need a book to remind us of how important ideas are. It really is an absolutely beautiful book….it gave me hope.
